Donor Karna
Karna was the son of Kunti. Karna was born before Kunti married to Pandu. Because of public shame, she did not tell this secret to anyone and silently kept him in a box and threw the baby in the river named Ashwa. The story of his birth is very strange.
King Kuntibhoja raised Kunti. Once Maharishi Durvasa came to the king. Kunti received her great hospitality and remained in her care until she stayed.
Pleased with this devotion to it, the Maharishi gave her a boon that the god she would call after reciting the mantra would come and offer her a child.
Kunti called upon Surya Narayana to test the boon of Maharishi due to ignorance. Suryadev came there at that moment. Karna was born from Kunti's womb due to his blessing.
When she threw this baby while keeping him in the box, it reached forward flowing with river. There Adhiratha lifted him out of curiosity and looking at it, he began to wonder when he saw a live baby in it.
Adhiratha compassionate the infant's unborn child, brought him to his home and started caring for him. He considered him as his child. He was more surprised to see the armor on the child's body, and than he realized that the child is a promising prince.
He named him Vasushen. Vasu means wealth. He had the wealth in the form of armor and helix. The creator had given it to him, so his name Vasushen was appropriate.
When Vasushen grew up, he started studying the scriptures. He was a worshiper of the Sun. He used to worship the sun from morning till evening. He had also a very big charitable heart. At the time of worship, anyone who came and asked him, he used to give it to him without hesitation. He was not enamored of the priceless thing. His pride was in being called donor and by his actions he actually proved that he was a great donor. There was no other Kauravas and Pandavas like him. We get to know him when Indra, disguised as a Brahmin, went to him to ask for his priceless fund of armor. At that time Karna welcomed Devaraja and gladly took off his armor and helix.
He did not consider his profit or harm while donating. Although the God Sun had earlier informed him not to give these armor-rings to anyone, but donor Karna did not even know to disappointing a petitioner. Because of this courage of Karna, he also known as Vaikartan. If he does not give this armor and helix, then no warrior could defeat him in battle. Indra sought them only for Arjuna's interest because without them Arjuna could never defeat him. Yet, impressed by his unique qualities, Indra gave him a virtuous power. With that power, the warrior in front could not survive under any condition and Karna kept it for Arjuna, but Shri Krishna did the trick and made Karna's power go on Ghatotkacha for the removing fear of Arjuna's life forever.
Ghatotkacha, who was wandering in the sky and showering fire on the Kauravas and who had once completely disturbed the entire army, fell lifeless as soon as the power seemed.
Karna was as skilled as Arjuna in archery. Once, on the orders of Maharaja Dhritarashtra, a ceremony was conducted to test the weapons education of the Kaurava and Pandava, Arjuna surprised everyone with his skill of weapon education. He had performed such actions that no warrior dared to answer him. He was robbing praise by showing the skills of a winner. At that time Duryodhana was stunned and sat quietly. Showing Arjuna's skill was beyond his ability. At the same time Karna came there and he came in the field and challenged Arjuna, “Arjuna! I can show the skill with which you are surprising everyone here and looting praise from everyone.”
Saying this, he shot an arrow at the bow and did everything that Arjun had done. Karna was heard cheering from all around. Duryodhana's face blossomed seeing Arjun's rival. He attached it to his heart. He inspired her to wage a duel with Arjuna. Admitting Duryodhana, he challenged Arjuna for this. Arjuna agreed to a duel war. Now the feud was expected to escalate, so Kripacharya intervened in the middle and said that the prince's duel with the prince could be in a war. Since Karna is known by Soot-son, they do not have the right to fight duel with Arjuna because they do not know their gotra, clan etc. properly.
This was just a problem that Karna could not solve. He stunned Arjuna's face. Duryodhana was also shocked because he had a plan to make Arjuna's powder through Karna. When Karna could not extend his feet further in this dilemma, Duryodhana gave him the kingdom of Anga country to bring him into the category of kings. Being a king, he could now make war with Arjuna or any other prince. He was also ready for this, but due to the evening, this debate stopped and everyone went to their respective homes.
Just then in life, Karna always met Arjuna as a rival. He especially had enmity with Arjuna. He could not bear his fame. He came in front of Arjuna at many places, but due to not being able to tell his clan, he had to withdraw from the front. He was called Soot-son because Soot had raised him. That is why Draupadi's swayamvara was not even given the opportunity to pierce the eye of a roaming fish. Draupadi herself had insulted him by calling as a Soot-son and refused to become his wife. The Soot-son do not have the right to select a Kshatriya girl — these words pierced his heart like a spike, and he came to his place after being insulted. His hatred for Draupadi had increased so much that in a crowded assembly, when the Duryodhana wanted to strip Draupadi, she did not resist it at all, and also make fun of her.
When Duryodhana's brother Vikarna condemned this disgusting behavior of the Kauravas, Karna told him, “Vikarna! You are born to harm your clan. You are talking about unrighteousness. Whatever she is being treated is well. She is a maid and the master has full authority over the maid.”
Having said this, he had repaid his insult done by Draupadi. At that time his heart was hardened like a stone. He insulted Draupadi as it turned out. Calling her an adulteress woman of five men and by all means damn her. At that time, burning in the fire of vengeance, he left the idea of fair and unfair. He had a desire to see and show her naked. It is clear from this that Karna completely forgot the feeling of truth, justice and religion in front of the feeling of vengeance. This is the weakness of his character.
Karna was also crooked by nature. He used to advise Duryodhana to create a plan in the same way as Shakuni did. At the time when the Pandavas lost in gambling and went to exile and they were spending their time in the forest, Duryodhana had come to tease the Pandavas with his family after coming to Karna and Shakuni talks. But here they confronted from Gandharva named Chitrasen. A fierce war started. The Gandharva king overpowered everyone with his might and took everyone including the family captive. Karna had run away from the battlefield. Then Chitrasen freed Duryodhana etc. on the request of Yudhishthira and also on the efforts of Arjuna.
Karna was also very egoistic. He was very proud of his might and again and again to appease Duryodhana, he used to say that he would kill Arjuna instantly. For this, he used to repeat his weapon skills taught by Parashurama. Even in front of Bhishma Pitamah, Guru Dronacharya, etc., he did not hesitate from boasting his boast.
One day Bhishma Pitamah could not bear this. He rebuked it and said, “Why does the obscene Karna! Why does he talk in vain? You should be ashamed by remembering the valor that Shri Krishna and Arjuna had revealed at the time of Khandava fire. Do you consider Shri Krishna as an ordinary person? They with their chakra can break your unfathomable power. Ego is not a virtue of a true hero. “
Hearing this, the Karna got angry and threw his arms away and said, “Father has made me ashamed in front of everyone, now I will show my heroism only when they die.”
As long as Bhishma Pitamah lived and kept fighting because of this refractoriness, Karna did not share in the war. When he heard that they had collapsed, pleased at that moment, he came in favor of Duryodhana and started fighting with the enemy. He was the third commander of the Kaurava army after Guru Drona. It is clear from this account that he was very angry. His intellect was always submerged in ego and because of this, the words of the wise also seemed bad. In contrast, Arjun was patient and courteous.
In spite of all this, Karna was rich in his words. He did not even know to withdraw from whatever promise he gave. Shri Krishna had told him that he was the eldest son of Kunti and they also requested him to join the Pandavas, but even after listening to everything, he did not think it appropriate to betray Duryodhana.
Shri Krishna had said, “Karna! It is a sin to fight against the brothers and wish to kill them, so you leave the Kauravas and take the side of the Pandavas. Yudhishthira will consider you as his elder and give you his won kingdom.”
Hearing this tempting words of Krishna, Karna stood firm on his word and started saying, “Sri Krishna! Betraying Duryodhana is the biggest sin. If I break his friendship and join him towards the Pandavas, then everyone will say that Karna fearing for them, so they have got towards them. Then what should I do? My mother had made all the arrangements to kill me. The Soot raised me, so they are like my father. I have also done many yagyas with Soots and I have also been married in the family of Soots, then what is my relationship with the Pandavas? I have been a dependent of Duryodhana in the house of Dhritarashtra, and for thirteen years I have rules his kingdom, then how should I betray him? Duryodhana has full faith in me. By my own words, he has bought this war. Hopes of Duryodhana are engaged so above me, except his patron and friend of Duryodhana in this situation I could never get the Pandava side.
“Then even if I meet, then the kingdom that Yudhishthira will give me will have to be given to Duryodhana according to his promise. By this, all the efforts of the Pandavas will be insignificant. After thinking all this, I definitely say that I am friend Duryodhana and can not get along with any other side, but yes, I do promise that my opponent in war is only Arjun. Except him I will not kill any other Pandava. This statement of Karna highlights the greatness of his character. He was so sure of the matter. Even though Duryodhana was unrighteous, but he was a refugee, how could he cheat on him? Till the end, he supported Duryodhana and proved himself a loyal friend.
Karna was completely strict towards duty. He was not as gentle as Yudhishthira and Arjuna, that it should be known about the Pandavas that they are his brothers and stop fighting. Once the determination in mind was to fulfill it completely, was the purpose of his life. It was his duty to assist Duryodhana, the awakening of the brotherhood towards Pandavas could not distract him, and yet his stern and jealous attitude towards Arjuna remained. Even Mother Kunti herself had expressed her desire to join Karna towards herself, but even at that time, that hero did not deviate from her path. This was the superiority of his character. He did not raise his arms to any other Pandava except Arjuna by promising to Krishna. He got to martyr while fighting with Arjuna.
Seeing his bravery in the Mahabharata war, Shri Krishna himself started praising him. How many times did he repel Arjuna's chariot. While he remained the commander, Arjuna repeatedly got distracted by his attacks. He could not understand how he would defeat this ultimate warrior.
Finally, looking completely disappointed, he looked at Krishna. The wheel of Karna's chariot got stuck in the ground. He was trying to get him out, at the same time, at the behest of Krishna, Arjuna took shelter of injustice and killed him, otherwise it was very difficult to kill that hero.
If he had that immense power of indra in his hand, then no one could defeat him, and it was sure that he would have killed Arjuna and blowing the conch of victory, but it was the wish of the creator. He had already taken the power of immense power to Ghatotkacha. Now he had no special weapon. Still Arjuna was able to kill him with great difficulty.
Wherever there is a description of his bravery in the Mahabharata, he is considered as powerful as Arjuna.
One thing that stains Karna's bravery is that he was also a fraud. He did not always take shelter of truth and justice. He killed the little adult prince Abhimanyu along with others within the Chakravyuh. He had his bow cut off and then the unarmed prince was attacked by six nobles together, one of which he was also. The crime of killing an unarmed prince will always remain with his character. That is why despite being so powerful, Karna cannot come in the category of great legends like Arjun.
By looking at the character of Karna in this way, it is known that he was great from any point of view and was also impure due to his behavior. His greatness lies in his being a donor, in his determination, in being a confidant of his friend and refugee, but deceit and deceitful behavior, vain conceit and anger diminish the dignity of his character.
He was so powerful that Duryodhana's patience was broken as soon as he died and now he felt certain of his defeat. And the same thing happened. After the death of Karna, the Kaurava army was destroyed. Duryodhana himself was also killed by Bhim. The Pandavas got victory in the war.
King Kuntibhoja raised Kunti. Once Maharishi Durvasa came to the king. Kunti received her great hospitality and remained in her care until she stayed.
